As President of AK Consulting Group, Amy works with government, non-profit, and private sector clients to develop customized solutions for organizational challenges. She has served in senior leadership positions in both the public and private sector and has been an integral part of many human resource planning, training and development, workforce transition, and change initiatives.
Amy has held positions leading and managing organizational development and human resource projects. She has designed and implemented training, leadership, and compensation programs to address professional growth, career path, and retention needs of organizations. She has provided conference-planning consulting services for events from 10 to 3,500 people for government, non-profit, and private sector clients. She focuses on the overall goals of meetings and strives to maximize each participant’s experience. She is detail-oriented, creative, and strategic in her approach. Prior to her state experience, she has served as Manager and Management Consultant for a variety of organizations. She has assisted clients in improving performance by identifying barriers and creating interventions to identify customer requirements, redesigning processes to deliver customer-focused services, and redesigning jobs to support new processes.

Michelle has twenty years of experience in leadership roles for non-profit, academic, governmental, and for-profit organizations. Throughout her career she has planned and coordinated events; she draws on that background to provide excellent customer service and guidance to AK Consulting’s clients. Michelle is skilled at collaborative program design, building valuable partnerships between organizations, and managing a broad range of activities.
Just prior to joining AK Consulting Group, Michelle served as a Regional Destination Manager in the United Kingdom for a company with over 100 years of experience in the group travel industry. In that role she contributed to strategic product design, led tours in the U.K., Ireland, and Portugal, and trained Tour Managers in the United Kingdom.
In addition to working with clients to ensure their meeting’s success, Michelle draws on her travel expertise to set up supplemental tours that highlight the cities in which conferences are held. Michelle is an excellent communicator who is organized, dedicated, and an instinctive problem solver. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public History, with a focus on Museum Management and Historic Preservation, from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Hanover College in Indiana.
Conference Support Manager
Judy Dougherty brings over 20 years of office management and customer service experience to the AK Consulting team. Judy’s experience as an administrative professional and small business operations manager uniquely positions her to provide unparalleled service to clients and team members alike. Judy has been with our team for several years and is an integral part of our team. She leads the event registration and virtual hub design, supports marketing efforts, and provides sponsor and exhibitor coordination for events. Judy’s creativity, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills are key assets to our projects. Judy is personable, organized, self-directed, and highly motivated to initiate excellent results.
Pat is an integral part of making meetings a success. She provides administrative and registration assistance pre-event and on-site. She is very customer focused and helps to ensure attendees are well taken care of. She works on-site at events and is responsible for ensuring office operations run smoothly. She works closely with attendees and purchasing staff to ensure all needs are met for invoicing and payment processing, and records are appropriately kept. She understands the nature of the work of clients and their partners.
